LISTEN: The District Podcast ⇢

Psst. My husband Dan recently launched a side project called the District Podcast. What’s the District Podcast? It’s an informal conversation of hip folks from your Nation’s Capital. Topics include sports, politics and, you know, life.

Dan’s new at this, so if you have any tips, comments, etc., please share them with him! And most importantly, listen and subscribe!

I know I live here, but I am utterly fascinated by this.

Amazing digital reconstruction of the city of Washington, D.C., circa 1814, based on a combination of historical artwork and satellite images. The project is more an imprint of collective memory than an accurate, reliable historical representation.

Fojol Brothers: Foiled by Lame City Cop

Here at the office, we were all pretty excited with the Fojol Bros. announced that they’d be serving up fresh Indian curries at nearby Farragut Square.

Who are the Fojol Bros.?

They’re four quirky ‘brothers’ and street vendors that roll through DC neighborhoods in their sweet musical truck and serve up tasty vittles to hungry patrons.

They communicate their upcoming wherabouts on Twitter, which is how we learned they’d be in our neighborhood today.

At 1P, we were off. We could see the line from accross the street and couldn’t wait to fork over the cash for this highly rated, eco-friendly, community-concious street food.

As we inched toward the front of the line, we leaned into a girl’s plate (rudely, I’m sure), and asked what she got. “Chicken marsala,” she said, “But I think they’re closing it down.”

Quelle horreur! The tweet said they’d be there until 2P!

As we looked down the block, we saw a DC city cop shutting things down. Apparently their truck was blocking a lane of traffic. Whoops.

“Will you come back?” dl004d asked. “Maybe to McPherson Square*?”

“Probably not,” the sweaty man with the fake mustache and orange jumpsuit said. “Squares are no good.”

*McPherson Square is two blocks closer to the office. And it’s hot outside, yo.
