Space Craze: Astronomy Photo of the Day
A couple of things happened on my fourth birthday:
1. My parents told me I was getting a sibling.
2. My dream of becoming an astronaut ended when the Challenger space shuttle exploded in mid-air.
But unlike my childhood obsession with dinosaurs, the enchantment with all this space—planets, stars, black holes, etc.—continued into adulthood. Which might be why I can’t get enough of NASA’s Astronomy Photo of the Day (APOD) (and why my Google contacts are probably annoyed with all my shared items as of late).
I mean, where else would you see clearly defined rings on Saturn?

Or see a guy free-floating in space 100 meters from his ship?

It is mind-boggling cool to me. The site has an RSS feed, so if you’re half as space crazy as I am, you’ll be happy to have these photos delivered to your reader every day. Of course, the photos are much bigger on the APOD site and include detailed descriptions of what you’re looking at.
