Best in Show: Agency Holiday Campaigns

I’m digging the list of agency holiday campaigns. My favorite so far is probably Agency Ham, a calendar of Colle + McVoy’s hunky male staffers, hilariously photographed for charity.

A-choo!

It seems the CV blog has had a bit of a booger these last few days. Namely, I noticed noticed some of my personal photos—even some that friends and family have sent me via email—showing up in posts. Weird, right?

I can only attribute it to the irrecoverable virus my laptop came down with a few weeks ago. I think I’ve fixed all that needs fixing—but shoot me a note if you see anything out of the ordinary.

XM Apologies in Advance for its Typos, Which May or May Not Affect Promotions

Is this XM’s way of usurping user coupons? To chalk it up to a typo?

The fine print says, “Typographical Errors: Although all information on this website and in our print materials and advertisements has been carefully checked for accuracy, typographical errors and omissions occur and are therefore subject to correction. We regret any inconvenience.”

Wow.

The Easiest Christmas Cookie You'll Make This Year

A friend of ours hosted a Christmas cookie party today, where all the invitees show up with their ingredients and make their respective recipes. It was a lot of fun and we came home with full bellies and some additional holiday cheer. (Thanks, Christine!)

Given the guest list (which included nine adults and five kids), I decided to make an easy, no-bake recipe: holly cookies.

(Interestingly, only the midwesterners had ever seen or eaten holly cookies. Why do you suppose that is?)

I’ve had a couple requests for the recipe, so I figured I’d share it here.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup oleo (I use I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter sticks)

18 large marshmallows

1/2 tsp. green food coloring

2 1/2 cups Cornflakes

Red hots

Directions:

Combine oleo and marshmallows in a double boiler until melted. Remove from heat and add green food coloring. Stir in Cornflakes until evenly coated and drop on wax paper in small clusters (using two spoons helps). Top with red hots for berries, then let sit until cool. Makes about 15.

Prepare to have green teeth and enjoy.

Keep Christmas Shopping Simple, Stupid (KCSSS?)

Composition, a favorite store of mine in Denver, Colo., did something different with its web site this holiday season. From their emailer:

“This year we wanted to keep things simple, so we put up a collection of our 20+ favorite things for giving this  holiday season. Things we think creative types would enjoy giving & receiving.”

Enter their holiday pop-up shop. Fun and easy. (How cute is the Christmas tree in a can? Although my dahlias never did bloom.)

Of course, their shop is still full of other goodies, so if you’re lucky enough to live in the area, you can just stop by.
